What it means
A website is your site on the internet, with your own address (for example, yourbusiness.com): who you are, what you offer, where you are, and how to contact you. It's available around the clock and doesn't depend on a platform deciding to show it.
If you already use Instagram or Facebook, a website doesn't replace them: it does what they can't. We explain it in Do I need a website if I already have Instagram?
What it does for your business
People can find you on Google
A well-built website gives Google something concrete to read and show. Social media posts aren't indexed the same way.
It answers what people always ask you
Hours, address, services, how to book: all in one place, so people can find it without having to message you first.
It builds trust before the first contact
People who don't know you usually search your name. A clear website with your real information and photos of your work helps them feel comfortable reaching out.
How having one would help you
- It looks good and loads fast on a phone, because many people search for you from their phone.
- Your phone number, address, and a contact button are easy to see.
- A page for each important service or area, so Google understands what you do and where.
- In Spanish and English, if your customers speak both.
- A base you own, on top of which everything else is built: your Google listing, your reviews, and your content.
What nobody can promise you
A new website doesn't show up first on day one. Google needs time to discover and evaluate it, and the position depends on many things. The website is the foundation; the rest is built on top and measured with real data.
“Social media is your storefront. A website is the door for people who don't know you exist yet.”
